How to identify the quality of LED light strips?

Release date:2023-06-28

1、 Flexible LED light strip and LED hard light strip

1. The flexible LED light strip uses FPC as the assembly circuit board and SMD LED for assembly, so that the thickness of the product is only the thickness of a coin and does not take up space; The common specifications include 18 LEDs and 24 LEDs in a length of 30cm, as well as 15 LEDs, 24 LEDs, and 30 LEDs in a length of 50cm. There are also 60cm, 80cm, etc. It can be cut or extended at will without affecting its luminescence. The FPC material is soft and can be bent, folded, and wound at will. It can move and expand freely in three-dimensional space without breaking. Suitable for use in irregular and narrow spaces, as well as for arbitrary bending and winding, it is suitable for combining various patterns in advertising decoration.

2. LED hard light strips are assembled using PCB hard boards as circuit boards. LEDs can be assembled using chip mounted LEDs or directly inserted LEDs, and different components can be used according to different needs. The advantage of hard light strips is that they are relatively easy to fix, and are more convenient to process and install; The disadvantage is that it cannot be bent arbitrarily and is not suitable for irregular areas. There are various specifications for hard light strip LED patches, including 18 LEDs, 24 LEDs, 30 LEDs, 36 LEDs, 40 LEDs, etc; There are 18, 24, 36, 48 and other specifications for using straight in LED, including front and side, and the side emitting LED is also known as the Great Wall light strip.

2、 Method for identifying the quality of LED light strips

Due to the low production threshold of LED light strips, the quality varies. However, experienced friends still have a way to identify them. LED light strips produced by legitimate manufacturers and counterfeit versions of LED light strips (referring to products produced solely by manual labor in rented houses) can be seen from the appearance at a glance.

1. Look at the solder joints. The LED light strips produced by legitimate LED light strip manufacturers are produced using the T-mount process, solder paste, and reflow soldering process. Therefore, the solder joints on the LED light strip are relatively smooth and do not require much solder. The solder joints extend in an arc shape from the FPC pad to the LED electrode. WeChat official account: Shenzhen LED Chamber of Commerce [While the solder amount of the solder joints of the fake LED light strips is uneven, most of them are wrapped in a dot, and at the same time, there will be different degrees of tin tips, which is a typical phenomenon of manual welding.

2. Check the FPC quality. FPC is divided into two types: deposited copper and rolled copper. The copper foil of the copper plated plate is protruding, which can be seen from the connection between the solder pad and FPC upon closer inspection. Calendered copper is closely integrated with FPC and can be bent arbitrarily without the occurrence of solder pad detachment. If the copper plate is bent too much, it will cause the solder pad to fall off, and if the temperature is too high during maintenance, it will also cause the solder pad to fall off.

3. Check the cleanliness of the surface of the LED light strip. If LED light strips are produced using the T process, their surface cleanliness is very good, and no impurities or stains can be seen. However, if a counterfeit LED light strip is produced using manual welding technology, no matter how it is cleaned, there will be residual stains and cleaning marks on the surface, as well as flux and tin residue on the FPC surface.

4. Look at the packaging. Regular LED light strips will be packaged in anti-static coil trays, usually every 5 meters or 10 meters, and then sealed with anti-static and moisture-proof packaging bags on the outside. The counterfeit version of the LED light strip will use a recycling reel for cost savings, without an anti-static and moisture-proof packaging bag. Upon closer inspection of the reel, it can be seen that there are traces and scratches left when removing the label.

5. Look at the label. Regular LED light strip packaging bags and reels will have printed labels on them instead of printed labels. The labels in the counterfeit version are printed, and the specifications and parameters are different.

6. Look at the attachment. Regular LED light strips will be accompanied by instructions and specifications in the packaging box, as well as LED light strip connectors or card holders; However, the counterfeit version of the LED light strip packaging box does not contain these accessories, as some manufacturers can still save as much as possible.
