Briefly describe the performance of copper clad plate

1. Performance of phenolic paper substrate



Phenolic paper substrate is an insulating laminated material with phenolic resin as the adhesive and wood pulp fiber paper as the reinforcing material. Phenolic paper based copper clad plate, which can generally be punched, has the advantages of low cost, low price, and low relative density. However, its working temperature is relatively low, and its moisture resistance and heat resistance are slightly lower than those of epoxy glass fiber cloth substrates.



The paper substrate is mainly made of single-sided copper clad plate. However, in recent years, double-sided copper clad plate products have also emerged for silver slurry through holes. It has improved resistance to silver ion migration compared to general phenolic paper based copper clad laminates.



The most commonly used product models for phenolic paper based copper clad laminates are FR-1 (flame retardant) and XPC (non flame retardant).



2. Performance of epoxy paper substrate



Epoxy paper substrate is a paper based copper clad plate with epoxy resin as the adhesive. It has slightly improved electrical and mechanical properties compared to FR-1. Its main product model is FR-3, and the market is mostly in Europe.



3. Performance of epoxy fiberglass cloth substrate



Epoxy glass fiber cloth substrate is a type of substrate that uses epoxy resin as the adhesive and electronic grade glass fiber cloth as the reinforcing material. Its adhesive sheet and thin copper clad inner core are important substrates for producing multi-layer printed circuit boards.



The mechanical properties, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and moisture resistance of epoxy glass fiber cloth substrate are higher than those of paper substrate. It has excellent electrical performance, high operating temperature, and its performance is less affected by the environment. In terms of processing technology, it has great advantages over other resin based fiberglass cloth boards. This type of product is mainly used for double-sided PCBs and requires a large amount of usage.



The most widely used product model for epoxy fiberglass fabric substrate is FR-4. In recent years, due to the development of electronic product installation technology and PCB technology, FR-4 products with high Tg have emerged.
