Knowledge about FPC flexible circuit boards!

Release date:2023-07-12

Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC), also known as Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC), is a reliable and excellent type of flexible printed circuit. It is a substrate used to connect electronic components and a medium for signal transmission in electronic products. It is an important category of printed circuits (PCBs).

Flexible circuit boards are printed circuits made of flexible insulating substrates, which have many advantages that hard printed circuit boards do not have:

01FPC can be bent, twisted, and folded without damaging wires. It can have different shapes and special packaging dimensions, and can replace many adapter components to maximize effective space, making electronic products appear lighter and thinner in appearance. It is widely used in various electronic products with miniaturization, lightweight, and mobility requirements.

02FPC can move and expand freely in three-dimensional space, achieving the integration of component assembly and wire connection, greatly reducing the volume and weight of electronic products.

03FPC also has advantages such as good heat dissipation and weldability, easy assembly, and low overall cost. The design of combining soft and hard also partially compensates for the slight deficiency of flexible substrates in component bearing capacity.

Flexible circuit boards are highly favored due to their short assembly time, smaller volume than PCBs (hard boards), lighter weight than PCBs (hard boards), and thinner thickness than PCBs (hard boards). There are four types of FPC flexible circuit boards: single-sided, double-sided, multi-layer flexible circuit boards, and rigid flexible circuit boards.
